Our mission is simple: make every great free API and open AI model findable in under 60 seconds — without a credit card, a sales call, or a signup wall.
Our story
Born out of frustration
FreeAPIHub started in 2023 when our founder spent three days hunting for a reliable free weather API. Every directory he found was either out of date, hidden behind a paywall, or stuffed with dead links. So he built a better one.
What started as a personal spreadsheet became a full directory, then a community, and eventually a platform that half a million developers visit every month. We still manually review every single submission.
How we work
Editorial, not algorithmic
Unlike aggregators that scrape GitHub or Rapid API and call it a directory, we have a human review step for every listing. Our team tests each API endpoint, verifies the free-tier limits, and checks that the documentation is readable.
APIs that return wrong data, fake the free tier, or go offline for more than 7 days are flagged and removed. Quality is non-negotiable.

We believe developer tools should be accessible to everyone, regardless of budget or company size. Every listing on FreeAPIHub is free to access — no paywalls, no gated previews.
Quality over quantity
Every API and model is manually reviewed before it appears in the directory. We test endpoints, verify free-tier limits, and reject submissions that return broken or misleading data.
Developer first
Our interface is built around how developers actually discover and evaluate tools — code samples first, marketing copy last. We obsess over response-time benchmarks and auth patterns, not feature bullet lists.
Privacy by default
We don't sell user data, run dark-pattern analytics, or collect more than we need. Our business model is advertising on editorial content — not monetising your personal information.
Community-powered
Anyone can submit an API or model, flag outdated data, or propose a new category. Our review team processes every suggestion within 72 hours and gives public feedback on rejections.
Speed matters
We keep the site fast, the search instant, and the code examples copy-paste ready. Developer time is the most scarce resource — we treat it that way.
